Hi Tony. There are restrictions which reflect government policy at the time. For instance yesterday at The Anchor. Their website states "....or a group of at most six people from any number of households". And further on "Large single sex groups (6+) will not be admitted without prior agreement." In our case David had brought his wife and we were 7 in total. We sat in the garden on two bench tables which we manoeuvred nearer to each other. I really don't think any pub can afford to turn away a dozen same sexed-up Potterers provided we keep to 1m+ rule and displayed common sense. It would be nice to have a female member present for the same sex stipulation. Failing that I could bring a wig, dress & tights and ask for a volunteer!
Are there any number restrictions on the latest Pub meets ?
Judging by the increased Scam & Spam we're getting, rather be on the last page of Google...

Dear Mel. I have decided not to click on your hyperlink. I sense you may be a scammer, even though your message was so well written. Perhaps you could email me directly and identify which image(s) is/are yours. I think we can safely rule out any images in the "Humour" section of the website....
Hello. I shall look into your complaint. My email address is email@example.com
This is Melika and I am a professional photographer.
I was baffled, frankly speaking, when I came across my images at your website. If you use a copyrighted image without my permission, you should be aware that you could be sued by the copyright holder.
It's against law to use stolen images and it's so disgusting!
Check out this document with the links to my images you used at www.potterers.co.uk and my earlier publications to obtain evidence of my legal copyrights.
Download it right now and check this out for yourself:
If you don't remove the images mentioned in the document above within the next few days, I'll write a complaint against you to your hosting provider stating that my copyrights have been infringed and I am trying to protect my intellectual property.
And if it doesn't work, you may be pretty damn sure I am going to report and sue you! And I will not bother myself to let you know of it in advance.
Hello Peter. I'm not sure if we've met. I have a poor memory for names. However, I have passed you over to Peta. She'll be in touch and give you the once-over! Welcome aboard the Pots, a rather quirky bunch if you ask me. Regards, Pete Smith.
I would like to join Potterers. Please send me an application form and how to pay. Many thanks, Peter Flower
Error on your website
It looks like you've misspelled the word "cept" on your website. I thought you would like to know :). Silly mistakes can ruin your site's credibility. I've used a tool called SpellScan.com in the past to keep mistakes off of my website.
Tony B. Hope that the NHS will get around to you soon!
Cars have started turning up again! Online says it's a 2-3% increase - seems like more around Fav. It was good for a while having a return to the fifties to cycle in.
Things not exactly going very well at the moment. Had a fall on my bike last Sunday. Ended up at Estuary View, XRay and now have strapped up knee with a torn Tendon and a pair of Crutches. Rest for a week they said and then gentle exercise and you won't be on your bike for about 6 weeks. Rested and used Crutches til Tuesday. Then on stick for a couple of days. Yesterday Jet washed the Patio and today gardening. Planning my first gentle ride a week on Tuesday weather permitting. To add to my woes I had a Cataract operation on Sun 9th Feb to left eye , other eye due to be done four weeks later. Obviously never happened and goodness knows when it will. In the meantime I have one good eye and one pretty poor. Wear a patch to watch TV and read. Still the weathers great and we have a garden and a good sized wooden balcony facing SW. So life ain't so bad. We ARE staying in and fridge and freezers full. Hope to see everyone eventually. If anyone gets too bored I have a Video calling device (A PORTAL) and am on Whatsapp and Messenger............... Keep safe
Good to hear from you Tony. Grim times here. At least the weather's good and I can still go out on the bike. Country lanes are so quiet now, like cycling 30 years ago. No need to rush to meet the others at the pub either. I have sprinkled the website Humour page with a few of the current, (and cleaner) corona virus jokes doing the rounds on WhatsApp..... You are right about those days of yore. All the best Tony.
Just to wish all my old Pottering friends good health and hope you all remain virus free in these difficult times. Sitting here in NZ and looking through the gallery on this website brings back many happy memories of great cycling days in Kent. Sitting in a pub garden in the summer drinking real ale and all of us putting the world to rights. Good days.
Just signed up for the London to Brighton Bike ride. in September. Look on the bright side the Corona Virus will be a thing of the past by then ?????? Theres hopefull for you. Anyone else going . Got 6 months to get fit. It's only 54 miles . (Only !!! said the silly old 81 yo)
Looks like the decision has been made for us. All our Meets' venues have been closed down for the time being. Pubs and cafes. It's back to making sandwiches, filling a flask, and seeking shelter in a church lych gate. Just sit well away from any other marooned Potterers. Ironically, lych gates were formerly used during funerals as a temporary shelter for the "bier". You just have to bring your own "beer" now !!!
Any chance of letting us know what is or is not happening ? What has changed or cancelled etc. ? Facebook page ???
I have started a Active Café in Appledore Kent and if you are passing you may want to stop off and have a cuppa and cake for more info please email me
we are a family run pub/restaurant in the lovely village of lynsted,we are offering 10% discounts on group booking of 8 or more, we offer real ale and home cooked lunches and dinners at real prices, please have a look at our facebook page or website and feel free to call 01795 521229 to book thank you nicky
Hi Jeremy. I shall email all our members that have an email address. Many more don't know what that is ! For those, I shall spread the word at our pub Meets. If you could email me, not website, some basic details of the bike (firstname.lastname@example.org) with your contact details please. Will it be ok if it went to an ungodly home? :-) Best regards Pete Smith
I have a good bike which I can no longer use but would be happy to pass on to a god home - it will need to be collected from Whitstable station In my time I cycled one and half times around the coast of Britain It was a customised bike built for me I am happy to send photographs if there is any interest
I shall be happy to do what you ask forthwith..... Best regards Pete Smith
Hello , I just read the post from Richard Browne about his time on the STA schooners, Sir Winston Churchill and Malcolm Miller. Richard may be interested in the following facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/groups/30680956784. We have annual reunions in Portsmouth in Octobers. Some old folk are still about, including Captain Barry Swindells. I would be very thankful, if you could forward this message to him.
Nice to meet some of the Potterers yesterday. Not a bad 18 mile round trip ride. That was enough considering the temperature. Hope to see you next Wednesday at The Alma....IF I can manage the hill !!!
Hello Tony Brown We'd be glad to welcome you along to any of our 'meets.' We start arriving at around midday and normally have a snack and a chat up to around 2pm. You'll easily find a cluster of us around a table, just come up and say Hello. Regards Stephen (club secretary)
Hope to join u on Wednesday. Cycle weather permitting from Seasalter otherwise car. Two of us . Andy Brown (We are not related just neighbours) and myself. If that's OK
PS..... My comment below was maybe unclear.
We welcome any non-members who turn up at a "Meet", as we do for any cyclist or e-cyclist. We don't expect you to pay a membership fee. Well, maybe after several Meets we might !!!
Just to let everyone know that I replied to Nick Charlesworth's enquiry (below) on the same day by email. Any others who are curious about us and have a similar query to Nick. Then just turn up. I've forgotten the membership fee. Well less than a tenner, anyway. And you get Colin's Pottering Around quarterly mag. And you can put our sticker on your bike. Or wherever else you want to stick it. And our social calendar shall welcome you with open arms. And the kudos of being a member of a historic (?) Kent cycling club. Almost a half century old.
Hi There, Do I need to join to come to e Meet or can I turn up to one and give it a try? Nick
How does one join?
Many thanks Hugh for inviting us to your ride on 17th and to Peta for a fabulous lunch at your beach hut. Can somebody please tell me how I can become a member?
Many thanks, Jonathan
Hi, I hope you don't mind us contacting you, but we are hosting a new Sportive in Lingfield, Kent called The Kent Climber on 21st July and wanted to offer those clubs based in and around Kent a 50% discount on the entry fee making it only £8/£10 to enter. If it is possible, would you be able to forward this discount onto your club members please. We have a big following of our sportives in Hertfordshire, Essex and Suffolk and wanted to offer something different to our usual crowd and break out of our usual areas.
The discount code can be entered at the checkout and is KENTCC50
More information and to sign up: www.sportiveuk.co.uk
Many thanks and hope to see some of your members there.

Hi, Would like to come occasionally. Nervous. unconfident rider who lives in Sturry
Pete Smith - Webmaster
Ignore the message from Scott Matthews, below. It is spam sent to websites' contact addresses. It's an advert for a spell checking website. A feckin timewaster.
I thought you would like to know, it looks like you've misspelled the word "Catagory" on your website. Silly mistakes can ruin your site's credibility. In the past I've used a tool like SpellingScan.com to keep mistakes off my website.

Hi there! What would a huge increase in relevant traffic mean for your business? If I could greatly increase the number of customers who are interested in your products and services, wouldn't you be interested?
Nice to meet you today Peter.
I am contacting you from the Lodge at Prince’s in Sandwich Bay. We welcome cyclists in our Bar/Lounge & terrace and are open every day. Please let me know if you would like any further details. Thanks, Ali
what is your address in dover?
Hello Pete, suggest the "Royal Oak" Nonington as a Thursday venue
Von & Tracy
Hi. We don't know much about cycling. We both live in Canterbury and have got electric bikes and enjoy shortish rides on dry days. We're not beer drinkers and don't usually stop at pubs. Will you still talk to us ? :-)
Had to do it on computer using Microsoft Paint. Took me a couple of hours then found out couldn’t rotate text cept for 90 degrees. Thought it’ll do for now. Perhaps someones grandchild or great grand embryo could do it. Beyond me....
Looks OK, what was the problem with the badge?
Should be Sunday 25 Feb, not 24th. Apart from that 8/10.
Good to see that "The Haywain" has returned to Bramling
Sounds good. Look forward to meeting up soon.
I am a keen local cyclist. Recently retired, living in Canterbury. I enjoy pub stops on my rides. Ok if I pop along to one of the meets? Possibly the Freewheeler on 21 Feb?
